Greetings, dear readers!!!
It’s so nice to be back here after a month of exams. Yep, they’ve been late.
But anyway, to cherish my new found interests, I’ve jot down this one, and well, I suppose it’s a reality reflection.

Happy Reading!
NEW FOLIAGE
The wick that was once dry,
It always creaked in pain,
Inspite of complaints from the wet, used ones
It never sustained.
Now when it was at last,
Dipped in oil and greased,
It felt much better & thanked Almighty
Though it knew that end was near.
It lit up and gave off a good flame,
So bright & majestic,
It felt so proud to be the torch bearer
When others only cribbed.
The wick not just served the purpose,
That it was meant to be
But that with happiness and glee,
It lived a life of sacrifice, a martyr.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you got through what was intended.

hi, Lavanya. Beautifully expressed. And actually mirrors my thoughts, from about 20 years ago. I have to say, my world view has changed and I am no longer that strong or resilient as to live up to those ideals. However, I have met many, regardless of age or other factors who still are the lamp that lights up any place it goes it. So, kudos. Hope you keep inspiring others as you have inspired me with this one. :))

I totally accept your POV. N I suppose, with time many of us loose on our will to still be the pillar of strength holding the responsibilities of being a human. But in the end, even realization, and further implementation will surely help!
Thank you so much for your appreciation, and I’m really obliged it inspired you. 🙂

Thank you so much for this poem! Beautifully expressed. I was in DC this weekend and we learned that just one small light can light the way. We do not have to be a flaming bonfire.

I’m really glad you liked it and thank you so much for your kind words.
That is so true, that small light is so powerful ; while the bonfire may sometimes be too bright and blazing, n may also bring about fires.
Have a good time! 🙂
